Flood and Shock, Plague and Pestilence, Fire and War
A long title for a short thought.
The sentiment I keep seeing/hearing (in the media, reported by the media, and from people in the office and on the street) with regards to the situation in New Orleans is, "How can this be happening? This is America!"
How is that an excuse? Why did so many people think we were exempt?

Just a thought: Maybe the "How can this happen in America?" reaction relates to the lack of response and help that is getting to the people affected by hurrican katrina. As in, hundreds of thousands of our citizens are off "helping" people in all corners of the world, while New Orleans falls apart and we can't get help to the people who are affected. Like I said, just a thought...
